Whether you’re studying for the SAT, ACT, GRE, GMAT, LSAT or MCAT, purchasing a prep course is almost a necessity these days in order to score high. Unfortunately though, prep courses can be quite expensive, so it’s important to search for discounts prior to purchasing. Magoosh typically offers sales and special promotions year-round. That’s right, you can almost always find a discount for Magoosh prep courses.
Normally, in order to receive a discount when on Magoosh website, you will need a coupon code. In other words, Magoosh normally does not apply discounts automatically. Instead, you will have to select which prep course you want and then enter in the promo code during the checkout process.
That being said, you will occasionally see a Magoosh sale where they auto-apply a code in cart. But make sure it actually applies and you get the discount!
Although Magoosh offers sales and special promotions throughout the year, the company is known for increasing discount amounts during major holiday periods. These holiday periods usually include New Years, Memorial Day, Fourth Of July, Labor Day, Black Friday and Cyber Monday. With that said, our team has also seen Magoosh offer special promo codes and coupon codes for President’s Day, Columbus Day, Veteran’s Day and Christmas.
When these special holiday periods roll around, Magoosh usually offers discounts in the range of 15-20% off. Therefore, given the fact Magoosh prep courses range in price from $100 to $1,000, you’re looking at savings in the ballpark of $15-$200 by applying a promo code. These special sale periods typically last for three to seven days so you’ll have to move quickly.
During non-holiday periods, the standard Magoosh discount is normally 5%-15% off. Again, taking into account the prices for Magoosh prep courses across all exams, this translates to savings of around $10-$110. On average though, I would say expect to save around $40-$50 on your prep course purchase.

For the SAT exam, Magoosh offers two different course options – Self-Paced Premium and Premium + Live Classes. As its name implies, the Self-Paced Premium option is essentially an on-demand course that provides the basics (i.e. video lessons, SAT practice questions, SAT practice tests). This course option costs $129 for a 12-month subscription.
The company’s Premium + Live Classes option is basically the same package outlined above, but with 16 hours of live instruction added-in. This option costs around $400.
Therefore, if you’re considering purchasing either one of these SAT prep courses, you should be able to save at least $13-$45 by using the promo code above.
Magoosh’s ACT course offerings are essentially the same as the company’s SAT options. There is a basic self-paced plan as well as a more premium live class option. These ACT courses range in price from $129 to $399. Therefore, you’re looking at $13-$45 in savings by applying the coupon code above.
Keep in mind, the Magoosh ACT courses do come with a 4-point score improvement guarantee, as well as a 7-day money back guarantee.
To help students prepare for the GRE, Magoosh offers three different options. The first is a one month self-paced package for the price of $149. The second is a six month self-paced package for the price of $179. For an extra $30, I’m guessing most students will opt for the six month plan.
The final course option Magoosh offers for the GRE is a Live + Premium course, which includes 16 hours of live instruction (eight two-hour classes) led by 99th percentile instructor. This course comes with a price tag of $479.
Therefore, after doing some quick math, you should expect to save at least $15-$50 on Magoosh’s GRE courses by applying the code shown above.
When it comes to the GMAT, Magoosh once again offers three different course options for students to choose from. The first is a Math + IR plan. This option costs around $220 and is ideal for students who already have a good grasp on the verbal section of the GMAT.
The second option is the company’s Premium course, which costs around $250. This is the company’s standard self-paced, on-demand package. Finally, the last option is what Magoosh calls their Live + Premium package. As the course name suggests, this package includes 16 hours of live class time and costs around $600.
Accordingly, if you’re looking to purchase a GMAT prep course from Magoosh, I’d say you can assume that you’ll save anywhere from $22-$60 by using the promo code listed above.
Of course during holiday periods, that discount may increase to $120 so it’s important to realize when you want to start studying. If you can delay the start of your prep process by a couple weeks, you may be able to save an additional $60.
For the LSAT, Magoosh offers two different courses. The first is their Self-Paced Premium plan, which costs around $300. This package includes all the LSAT study materials you need, including a 5-point score improvement guarantee as well as LSAC Prep Plus access.
The second course is the company’s Live + Premium course, which comes with a price tag of around $600. This package includes everything mentioned above as well as 16 hours of live online class time. For the record, all of Magoosh’s LSAT classes are taught by 99th percentile scorers, which is pretty incredible.
Thus, in terms of savings, you can discounts in the range of $30-$65 by applying the promo code displayed above. That sort of discount would reduce the true cost of the Magoosh LSAT courses to $270 and $540, respectively. For comparison purposes, popular prep companies Princeton Review and Kaplan charge 2-3x that for their LSAT courses.
To help students get ready for the MCAT, Magoosh offers two different courses. The first is a one month self-paced course, and the second is a 12-month self-paced course. These course options cost around $380 and $400, respectively. Given there is only a $20 difference between the two, I would suspect most students opt for the 12 month plan.
You may have no noticed there is no mention of live classes above, and unfortunately, that is indeed the case. Magoosh does not offer any live MCAT classes. With that said, Magoosh does offer a free seven day trial period so you can always test the waters before fully committing.
