Why Nursing.com Is Better Than UWorld

To provide you with the most helpful comparison of these two NCLEX review courses, it’s best to highlight the specific study materials and features where each prep company excels, first starting with Nursing.com.

Quality of NCLEX Practice Material

More often than not, the best approach to studying for the NCLEX is practice, practice, practice. The NCLEX is just one of those exams that lends itself to tons of realistic practice work.

And after having had a chance to thoroughly use and test out each program, our team feels that Nursing.com offers the better quality practice material.

NURSING.com NRSNG SIMCLEX
Nursing.com’s NCLEX simulator (SIMCLEX) is the best we’ve reviewed

Both companies offer solid practice problems and cover all questions formats, but ultimately, we found Nursing.com’s problems to be a better match for the content, difficulty and delivery of real NCLEX questions.

Plus, when considering the simulated exam programs from each company, for us, there is no doubt that Nursing.com’s SIMCLEX wins the day. It’s the best NCLEX simulator we’ve seen.

Video Lessons & Content Review

Unfortunately, UWorld doesn’t provide much content review at all. They are really just more of a question bank with answer rationales.

Nursing.com, on the other hand, is a much more comprehensive and robust package offering a range of content review tools. This includes 2,000 video lessons, a review eBook, flashcards, and more.

NURSING.com NRSNG video lesson
Nursing.com’s video lessons are awesome

We especially loved the short and highly digestible video lessons. They are super engaging and packed with great visuals.

Bottom line, if you need content review, Nursing.com is the way to go.

Nursing.Com Offers More Bang For Your Buck

Somehow, despite offering way more study material (not just content review, but quantity of practice questions as well), Nursing.com still comes in cheaper than UWorld after sales and discounts.

Nursing.com offers four different monthly subscription options ranging in price from $29 up to $162. Therefore, assuming you need access for four months and you choose the company’s most popular plan ($59 per month), you’re looking at about $240 in total.

Plus, after taking into consideration discounts and promos, the price drops closer to the $200 mark. By contrast, the UWorld Qbank carries a price tag of close to $250.

Bottom line, Nursing.com provides a more affordable package and gives you more material, so they win by a mile.

Supplemental NCLEX Study Materials

Again, Nursing.com takes this category. If you’re one of those people that plans to get into all the extras, Nursing.com will be your jam (Kaplan and Princeton Review provide a ton of extra NCLEX study materials as well).

UWorld doesn’t offer many bonus resources beyond their Qbank, while Nursing.com loves loading you up. Their extras include suggested study schedules, cheat sheets, a blog, nursing vocab tools, and more.

Pass Guarantees

This category is beyond easy to judge. If you’re looking for a money-back pass guarantee, Nursing.com gives you one, while UWorld does not.

In fact, Nursing.com has some bananas 200% pass guarantee, meaning if you don’t pass the NCLEX after having used the program, they’ll give you 2x your money back.

Overall we love Nursing.com for their value

That means you’d make money by failing, but assuming you just want to get through the exam and get on with your nursing life, Nursing.com has the better protection.

Why Choose UWorld For NCLEX Prep

Now that you have a better understanding of what Nursing.com has to offer in terms of NCLEX study materials, let’s flip the script and talk about the areas in which UWorld wins (or at least ties).

Practice Problem Rationales

Despite our opinion that Nursing.com provides the more realistic practice problems, we found UWorld’s rationales to be slightly better. It’s not a major disparity here, but UWorld’s visuals win the day.

Their answer explanations are filled with graphics, diagrams and tons of visual detail. For visual learners, this can make a big difference. Here’s the catch though – UWorld’s problem explanations have to be more detailed and graphic-heavy than Nursing.com’s, largely because they don’t offer much standalone content review.

UWorld NCLEX Prep
UWorld has great rationales with visuals

There are no in-depth video lessons, prep books, live classes, or anything of that nature with UWorld.

With Nursing.com though, their explanations simply back up their content review, so the rationales don’t need to be as detailed. And to be clear, it’s not like Nursing.com’s problem solutions are bad. We actually really like them. It’s just that UWorld has more detail and visuals.

User Experience & Interface

We basically have this category as a tie. Both companies offer really sharp and clean user experiences. Their platforms both feel modern and are easy to navigate.

UWorld NCLEX RN Test Prep
UWorld has a nice user interface

If user interface is important to you, I can’t really sway you either way. I liked both programs in this respect (same story with Kaplan and Archer).

Content Access Period

This is sort of a tough category to judge. Both UWorld and Nursing.com each offer subscription packages with varying lengths, ranging from month-to-month up to 2 years. Therefore, this category is also deemed a tie.

Verdict: UWorld or Nursing.com For NCLEX Prep?

By this point, you can probably guess the winner between these two NCLEX packages. We have Nursing.com taking this matchup by a mile.

We’re high on their NCLEX prep materials and generally think they’re the best in the space from top to bottom. UWorld offers a fine Qbank, but it’s more or less just that – a Qbank. You get practice problems and rationales, but nothing really else.

By contrast, Nursing.com provides that same practice material, plus video lessons, cheat sheets, prep books, flashcards, and a bunch more. And it’s all high-quality content, delivered at a lower price. This one’s a no brainer.
